The RSL-Utah Under-17 squad will again be under the direction of RSL first-team assistant coach Miles Joseph, who will serve as the team’s Technical Director, and Greg Maas, who retains his head coaching duties for a fifth straight summer. Rounding out the RSL-Utah coaching staff for the 2011 season will be assistant coaches Marco de Ruiter, Rob Karas, Eric Landon, Adolfo Ovalle, Patrick Rennie & Nermin Sasivarevic, who will serve on a rotating basis throughout the summer tenure. In addition, RSL-Arizona Academy coach Mike Munoz will also be on hand for the June 5 tryouts to lend his expertise in the selection process for this year’s squad.

The 2011 RSL-Utah squad will begin training in mid-June and will conduct at least one practice session per week through August. The RSL-Utah U-17 team will continue its practice of scheduling as many training sessions as possible following the RSL first team, allowing the youngsters as much interaction as possible around the club’s professional outfit. In addition, some of the players will have the opportunity to volunteer their services at Rio Tinto Stadium during Real Salt Lake game days, providing yet another chance for these players to be immersed in a professional environment.

In addition to the practice sessions, the RSL-Utah U-17s will also be gathering for several matches over the course of the summer, which will include intra-squad scrimmages and friendlies against local club sides and USL Premier Development League (PDL) reserve teams. The RSL-Utah team will again combine with players from the RSL-Arizona and RSL-Florida Youth Development Programs to field a side under the Real Salt Lake banner for the annual fifth annual MLS/SUM U-17 Cup this summer.
