Want a More Ethical Utah Government?

Utahns for Ethical Government [UEG] announces the location, date, and time of the Mountain Regional public hearing, one of seven regional hearings that are required to inform Utahns about UEG’s initiative effort. At the completion of the hearings, the initiative petition will begin circulating throughout the state. More than 100,000 signatures will be sought to ensure that the initiative will be placed on the ballot for the 2010 general election.

Who: Utahns for Ethical Government
What: Mountain Regional Hearing (Summit, Wasatch & Utah Counties)
Date: Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Time: 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Where: Provo City Library, Brimmhall Room
550 N. University Avenue, Provo

The hearings are open to the public. Speakers will present the reasons for and the specifics of the UEG ballot initiative. If placed on the 2010 ballot and passed by Utah’s voters, the initiative would enact a strict code of ethical standards for Utah lawmakers and create an independent ethics commission to apply the code and make enforcement recommendations to the Utah State legislature. A question and answer session will follow the presentations. Sponsors urge all interested citizens to attend in order to become more familiar with the ballot initiative. They also note that those interested will be able to sign up at the hearings to help gather signatures.

Utahns for Ethical Government is a nonpartisan coalition of Utah citizens committed to legislative ethics reform. For more information about the UEG, its initiative petition and how you can get involved, please visit www.utahethics.org.
