The Sundance Resort will present its Third Annual Food and Wine Festival, August 30th, 2008, from noon until 4 pm, on the resort’s lawn at the base of Mt. Timpanogos in Provo Canyon. The event, co sponsored by Salt Lake Magazine, will feature the best in food and wine and will include a roster of top restaurants and the featured vintners of Sundance’s Celebrating Wine as Art program. Admission is $75 and includes access to all vintner and restaurant booths.

“We are pleased to offer the Third Annual Food and Wine Festival at Sundance Resort. This event that has been widely accepted by the community helps preserve North Fork Canyon and recognizes all of the great restaurants here in Utah, pairing them with great wineries from around the world,” commented Fred Johnson, Sundance Co General Manager. “I feel that consumers have become very particular with the choices they make today with the economy in its current situation. This is a venue for them to come and sample some great food from our local restaurants and taste some incredible wines. I welcome you to join us in celebrating wine as art for the third year…Cheers!”

The Sundance Food and Wine Festival is an outgrowth of Sundance’s Celebrating Wine as Art program that was established in 2004, in which the resort partnered with distinctive vintners who exemplify an aspect of the Sundance values and mission, including the commitment to environment, the celebration of independent voice and spirit, and creativity.

The Food and Wine Festival showcases the vintners of the Sundance Label Wine Program, which include:

2005 Honig-Sundance Sauvignon Blanc, Napa

2006 Selby-Sundance Chardonnay, Russian River

2005 Belle Glos-Sundance Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast

2005 Bethel Heights-Sundance, Justice, Redford Reserve Pinot Noir

2002 Judd's Hill-Sundance, Merlot, Napa

2003 Altamura-Sundance, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa

2001 Mer Soleil-Sundance, Late Harvest Viognier, Santa Lucia Highlands, Monterey

Restaurants participating in the Food and Wine Festival are the award-winning Sundance restaurants, Tree Room, Foundry Grill, and Zoom in Park City, as well as Lugano, Pizzeria 712, Café Madrid, Blue Boar Inn, Tony Caputo’s Market and Deli, among others.

Each year a talented artist is chosen to present their interpretation of the Sundance Wine program and festival. This year gifted artist John Emery, whose work is shaped by his love and the American Midwest as well as New Zealand, where he has a second home. These two places have distinctly shaped Emery’s vision and art. His paintings have been exhibited at the Center of Contemporary Art (Christchurch), the Dayton Art Institute, Akron, Art Institute, University of Missouri, Kansas, Gallery of Art and a number of other regional centers.

In presenting this event, Sundance is again partnering with Salt Lake Magazine. Other sponsors include Pepsi, Sysco and Park City Roasters.

A silent auction to benefit the Sundance Preserve will feature opportunities to bid on items to be announced.
