Snowbird's Summer Schedule

The Snowbird Renaissance Center (SRC) presents great music, food and fun for the entire family this summer at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort. The 2009 festival lineup mixes perennial favorites like the Rock & Blues Festival and Oktoberfest with new additions such as the Tent Revival, Brewfest and the recently-completed outdoor music venue, the Peruvian Terrace.

“We are thrilled to be presenting such an exciting and diverse festival lineup,” said Snowbird Renaissance Center General Manager Teri Mumm. “With a mixture of free events and low-cost entertainment options just six miles up Little Cottonwood Canyon, Snowbird is the place to be this summer.”

Festival season begins with Snowbird’s Grill on the Hill BBQ Competition, June 19-21. This Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned free event allows spectators to savor food from the best barbeque chefs in the country, as well as take part in Snowbird’s new Brewfest day on June 21 with nearly a dozen local breweries selling samples of the finest Utah beer.

A packed musical schedule lasts throughout the summer with a mix of free Cool Air Concerts along with three premier festivals presenting the best Americana musicians touring today. The new Snowbird Mountain Music Festival kicks off the summer season, July 10-12, with the sounds of the Cowboy Junkies, Son Volt, Seldom Scene and more along with the Utah State Instrument Contest and a bluegrass camp for kids. Rock & Blues returns during the Pioneer holiday weekend, July 24-26, with performances from Alejandro Escovedo, Coco Montoya and Janiva Magness at the new outdoor Peruvian Terrace stage, offering beautiful surroundings in the shadows of the Wasatch Mountains.

Wrapping up the trio of music festivals is the first annual Snowbird Tent Revival, a celebration of gospel music. Taking place Aug. 14-16, the powerful voices of Mavis Staples, Blind Boys of Alabama, Mike Farris and more will pay homage to gospel and American music. Snowbird’s summer festival season concludes with Oktoberfest, taking place every weekend from Aug. 22-23 through Oct 10-11. The SRC is also offering a Summer Festival Season Pass for $175 starting April 3 that includes access to all events as well as a free $50 Snowbird gift card.

Snowbird summer activities will begin June 13 (weather permitting), including the new Wasatch Mining Company Gemstone Mine, Aerial Tram, Peruvian Chairlift and Tunnel, Alpine Slide, four-station climbing wall, ZipRider, Bungy Trampoline, Mechanical Bull and Inflatables.
