So yesterday on MOUNTAIN VIEWS, Susan Sims, the publisher of Fido Friendly magazine, a publication dedicated to people who like to travel with their pets, said that while Park City may be a place where locals love their dogs, it's not necessarily that accommodating to visitors.
The current issue of the magazine features 10 Ski Resorts that are dog-friendly, and include Jackson Hole, Telluride and Mammoth - but nothing here in Utah.
I tried to tell her about all the great dog-friendly groups and activities, but it really came down to lodging. While places like Aspen's Little Nell welcome dogs with treats, beds, and dog-sitters, it appears that Park City's luxury properties don't roll out the canine welcome mat as often.
This is a growing segment of the travel population, and seems really at odds with the attitude of the locals. So here's a call to arms from the Waldorf-Astoria, St. Regis, Montage Deer Valley & Stein Eriksen Lodge (as well as all the other lodging properties) to open your arms to our four-legged friends, and let's get "Bark City" on the map.
If you know of some dog-friendly lodging properties in Park City, please send info directly to email@example.com - she's waiting for your note!
