No Make Up Days Required for Park City School District

In a letter sent today to Park City School Superintendent Ray Timothy, State Superintendent Patti Harrington granted the District’s request for a waiver of the state board rule requiring school to be held a minimum of 180 days each year.

The waiver allows the District to complete the remainder of the school year as originally scheduled. June 12, 2009, remains the last day of school. Graduation will held that evening.

The waiver of the rule means that the District will not be required to add four days of instruction to the remaining school schedule. Park City schools were closed on April 30, May 1, 5, and 6, out of concern over an outbreak of the H1N1 virus.

Park City High School and Learning Center reopened their doors on May 6, 2009. The remaining schools will reopen the following day.
