Music at Sundance (part 1)


Sundance Under the Stars

Sundance Resort presents this new musical series of outdoor jazz concerts for three Saturday nights in July, featuring both local and national artists. Concerts begin at 8 pm at Sundance’s Outdoor Stage. Tickets are $25 per person.

The season kicks off on July 12th with Grammy nominated pianist, Judy Carmichael, who is one of the world’s leading interpreters of stride piano and swing. The New York Times called Ms. Carmichael’s piano style “astounding, flawless, and captivating.” She has played a variety of venues from Carnegie Hall to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice.

Then on July 19th Stephan Moccio, pianist, composer, arranger and artist performs. Moccio is noted for co writing Celine Dion’s 2002 hit song “A New Day Has Come” with Aldo Nova. The song reached and held the number one spot on the Billboard AC chart for 21 weeks.

On July 26th, the Utah Jazz All Stars perform. The group includes musician Jay Lawrence who has enjoyed a diverse career as a performing and recording artist. Lawrence is a distinguished drummer, ethnic and orchestral percussionist, and composer. Saxophonist, David Halliday has appeared on BET, the WB's “Everwood,” and KBYU-TV, and has been heard on ABC's “Touched By An Angel,”ABC's NBA theme, superstar Josh Groban's new “Awake Live” DVD, and numerous other TV shows, commercials and recordings. An avid composer and producer, Halliday's recordings and original compositions have aired on CBS, ESPN, Speed TV and numerous other television stations throughout the world.
