How Fast Can You Run in Ski Boots?

(Courtesy Ski Utah) The first ever Yeti Pass Skootch’n Dash will take place tomorrow Saturday, September 3 at the Downtown Farmers Market at 10 a.m. Costume clad competitors will race in one of two hilarious athletic events - a ski boot run (approximately 1K) or a 50-meter snowboard skootch.

The fastest racers in each division will win fabulous prizes including Rossignol skis or snowboard, Smith Optics and other Ski Utah swag. A special award for the best costume, as judged by a panel, will be awarded a Ski Utah Yeti Pass good for one day of skiing at every Utah resort during the 2011-12 season.

WHAT: Yeti Pass Skootch’n Dash WHEN: Saturday, September 3, 2011; Registration 9 a.m./ Race Starts 10 a.m. WHERE: Downtown Farmers Market at Pioneer Park (300 W Broadway, southwest corner)

The registration fee to participate is five-dollars per person per race and 50 percent of profits earned will be donated to the Utah Avalanche Center. Preregistration will remain open online through 5 p.m. MDT Friday, September 2 at http://www.active.com/running/salt-lake-city-ut/yeti-pass-skootchn-dash-2011. Same day registration opens at 9 a.m.

Racers will receive great swag including a Squatters Big Cottonwood T-shirt, event water bottle and more. A limited number of ski boots provided by Ski’n See will also be available for those unable to provide their own equipment. Cash will only be accepted for same day registrants.
