The Egyptian Theatre's Summer Youth Theatre Program has found new financial support that will benefit kids in our community! Tuition Awards to help pay for summer classes have become available due to generous donations from some of the theatre's patrons. These awards will be distributed at an Open House event next Friday, June 10th at the Egyptian Theatre Studios.
Each Tuition Award is for $200 towards enrollment in Youth Theatre Summer Camps. Summer Camp dates and prices vary by the age of the youth and the level of involvement the students seek, but range from $240-$360 for the ten day camps. The hope is that families that have kids with an interest in theatre and acting, but who felt financially unable to register will now have that opportunity.
After years of creative arts and after-school-program budget cuts, many Theatre patrons have expressed concern for the younger generation's access to Theatre Arts Programs. Creating the Tuition Awards for Youth Theatre will help channel donations to youth Arts-education while fulfilling donors wishes.
The June 10th Open House event will allow parents and children to see videos of past Youth Theatre presentations, to experience a bit of what a day at Youth Theatre summer camp will be like, to explore creative play with costumes and props, to ask questions of the teachers and Director, and to perhaps try a hand at Improv comedy or an impromptu song.
The Egyptian Theatre Youth Theatre staff will all be on hand to show families how much creativity, self esteem, and enjoyment their children can expect from attending the camps.Anyone who is interested and would like to be eligible for the Tuition Award, but can not attend the Open House may contact Amber Hansen at the Egyptian Theatre. 435-649-9371, ext 21
