PARK CITY, Utah (November 22, 2010) – In an effort to encourage shoulder season commerce and pedestrian traffic in Park City’s Historic District, all metered parking will be free on Main Street beginning on Thanksgiving Day and running through December 18, 2010. The Historic Park City Alliance (HPCA), along with the Park City Municipal Corporation, is spearheading the free parking offer. A full schedule of holiday events and activities in the Historic District will follow the free parking offer during the remainder of December.

“As a thank you to locals and visitors for their support over the year, we’d like to give a nice holiday gift to the community,” said Alison Butz, Executive Director of HPCA. “Free parking will help save people a few minutes and make their holiday to-do list a little easier to tackle.”

In addition to free parking, HPCA merchants and venues will host a number of complimentary holiday events throughout November and December. Main Street’s colorful winter light display will kick off the holiday season on November 26 at 5 p.m. Additional events throughout December include carriage and sleigh rides, Santa at the Town Lift Plaza, carolers and the Winter Solstice Electric Parade, a spectacular display of brightly lit, decorated cars. Special holiday programs and classes for all ages will also be offered at the Kimball Art Center, Park City Museum and Egyptian Theater.

“Holidays on Main is a way for locals and visitors to experience a fun, cheerful atmosphere and get in the winter spirit,” said Butz. “We’re fortunate that Historic Park City embraces a lively, merry environment during this time of year, which enhances the Main Street experience for visitors.” A full list of Holidays on Main activities is listed below.
