Big Mountain Battle this Saturday

For its fourth anniversary, the Helly Hansen Big Mountain Battle returns to Park City Mountain Resort on Saturday, March 24. This exciting competition is open for all ages and levels of experience. You can sign up for the Advanced Course, a shorter Intermediate Course, and an Intermediate Course for 12 years and younger (where one team member must be under that age).

To get a taste of what the Big Mountain Battle is, here is PCTV's footage from last year's event.

Teams of two will be taken "to corners of the mountain you may not have been to for years, send you hiking up a climb you would have never thought to do, go searching in the woods for a checkpoint, get tracked in real time by our friends at Flaik GPS".

It's a three-hour period where teams have to hit each checkpoint whether it be a lift, run or hike--and the GPS will track you the whole time! Don't worry, participants will receive a course map and team card so they don't get lost.

The cost is $90 per team if you pre-register ($10 more if you register the day of) and that will include 2 base layers of Helly Hansen worth $45 each.

You can register either as a new team or join an existing team (someone already going solo).

Check in will be at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning on the third floor of the Legacy Lodge at Park City Mountain Resort. This is also where awards will be handed out after the event! Click here for more information on what's going on at Park City Mountain Resort for the Battle.

The prize? $2,000 worth of Helly Hansen retail! It can be redeemable online or even for entry for the final Big Mountain Battle in Aspen/Snowmass.

But there are rules too. You can find those on BigMountainBattle.com.

So what will it be for you this weekend? The Big Mountain Battle at PCMR or the Pond Skimming Contest at the Canyons?
