We all know that "Bark City" is a haven for dogs and dog lovers, and two big events this weekend will go a long way to prove that.

Sat. Dec. 4 at Willow Creek Park at 9 am will be the PATA's annual 5K Dog Jog, sponsored in part by Snyderville Basin Recreation. Participants are invited to run, walk or stroll with or without a furry companion to raise money for Mexican non-profit animal welfare group PATA Manzanillo's free spay/neuter programs that have funded 2,500 free surgeries for dogs and cats of low income families since 2006.

PRE-REGISTER: Download your registration form and PayPal your entry fee by 7 PM Fri., Dec. 03, 2010 online at PATAManzanillo.com under "Fundraisers" and "Park City Dog Jog". Prizes will be awarded for top fundraiser, fastest human and fastest dog!!

COLLECT DONATIONS: Ask friends, family, neighbors, co-workers to sponsor you in the run. No quantity is too small a donation, and all funds collected go towards reducing reproduction of unwanted animals in Mexico.
**Submit completed pledge form and donations on race day.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR MEXICAN MUTTS! Note that the cost of spay/neuter is much lower south of the border, and that $20 can cover 3 to 5 spay/neuter surgeries on cats and dogs in a MASH clinic setting in Mexico.

After you've finished your walk, if you feel like you need another four-legged friend, No More Homeless Pets in Utah is having their Holiday Super Adoption event.

Over 400 homeless dogs and cats will be in Salt Lake City for the event, all of them looking for a family who can give them the holiday season they long for. And not only will their holiday be brighter – these pets are sure to bring the joy of the holiday season to their new families throughout the year!

The Holiday Pet Super Adoption runs December 4th through 5th, and is located next to the PetSmart on 389 West 1830 South in Salt Lake City, with adoptable dogs and cats both located inside. Event hours are Saturday from 10 am to 7 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. Adoption fees range from $50 to $75 for cats and $95 to $150 for dogs, including spay/neuter surgery and updated vaccinations. As a special holiday treat, Santa will be on hand from 11 am to 4 pm both days for photos to document each pet’s new family! Each digital photo is $9.95 and comes with an exclusive holiday frame. PetSmart donates $5 from each photo to No More Homeless Pets in Utah.

On Sunday, immediately after Super Adoption ends, we will need foster homes for both dogs and cats who did not get adopted over the weekend. We invite anyone who is interested in fostering Super Adoption animals to email volunteer@utahpets.org.

The Pet Super Adoption is brought to you by No More Homeless Pets in Utah in partnership with PetSmart Charities.
